Ayham Al-Banna

Dr. Ayham Al-Banna is a Staff Systems Architect at ARRIS Group, Inc., Chicago. He started his current position in 2006. In his position, Ayham is responsible for providing architectural and big picture oversight for the development of new or enhanced products. He works with various product developers, product managers, and customer application experts to create hardware and software products containing required features and modifications. Ayham also provides technical advice to other departments within the company. His research interests include RF Communications, Traffic Management, and QoS/QoE. Ayham has several pending patents and authored a book about wireless interference in IEEE802.11 networks titled as “Interference in IEEE 802.11 WLANs: Characterization and Mitigation”. He has numerous publications in the area of Wireless and Cable Communications. Ayham was granted the ARRIS Star Award in 2009.

Dr. Al-Banna earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2003 and 2006, respectively. During his graduate study, Ayham was granted several honorary awards including: Multiple teaching and research scholarship Awards , M.Sc. Academic Achievement Award, Ph.D. Academic Achievement award, Military Communications Conference Graduate student travel Award, National Science Foundation Graduate student travel Award, and AAAEA Graduate Award.
