Dr. Howald has over 20 years of experience in commercial and defense communications systems and equipment. Rob’s current role is in the CTO office within Motorola’s Home & Networks Mobility business, envisioning network architectures and evolutionary paths to providing an increasing breadth of sophisticated and demanding broadband services to their customers. Prior to joining Motorola, Rob was the Vice President of Engineering at Xytrans, Inc., where he introduced that company’s first two RF technology products into the Wireless Telecommunications and Homeland Security marketplaces. Before Xytrans, Rob was Director of Systems Engineering in Motorola’s Broadband Communications Sector. He has taught graduate courses in communications and wireless systems, has published over 150 papers, and has multiple patents issued or pending. Rob has a BSEE and MSEE from Villanova University, a PhD in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Drexel University, and an MBA from DeSales University.
