Vice President of Access Network Architecture at Comcast Cable. Jorge is responsible for the company’s high-speed data, voice and video access network strategy and architecture. With 22 years of experience in telecommunications, 18 of which are in Cable, Mr. Salinger has participated of new technology development and operations in the areas of DOCSIS/eDOCSIS, DSG, PacketCable, OCAP/OpenCable, and IP/HFC Networks.
Prior to joining Comcast, Mr. Salinger was President of the Consulting Division at YAS Broadband Corporation. In his role he served as Executive Consultant for Adelphia, Advance Newhouse, Charter, Comcast Cable, Cox, Ono, Rogers, TWC and UPC, assisting them with technology strategies in the areas of DOCSIS/DSG, set-tops, VoIP, HSD, and related CATV technologies. Jorge also served as Executive Consultant for CableLabs directing the Broadband Access Certification programs, leading the Certification Process currently in use at CableLabs for all DOCSIS, CableHome and PacketCable Specifications. Mr. Salinger has also participated in the launch of 4 start-up companies, two of which were acquired.
Prior to joining YAS Broadband, Mr. Salinger served as Vice President of Engineering for High Speed Access, Senior Director of Digital Services for Adelphia Communications, Director of Telecommunications for Florida State University in Miami, and Vice President of Engineering for Systems Engineering Consultants.
Mr. Salinger holds a Bachelor and a Master degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida State. He has authored over 30 technical publications, papers and presentations. Jorge has also co-authored a book on advanced micro-processor design, holds a patent for a biomedical engineering blood testing method and instrument called Luminometer, and is author and/or co-author of 19 additional patent applications.
