Tim Burke is the Vice President of Strategic Technology for Liberty Global, Inc. (LGI), the largest Cable Television Company outside of the United States.
He has been with Liberty Global for five years and reports directly to the LGI corporate CTO. His focus has been wireless initiatives but has also worked on key video, broadband and telephony technology projects in Europe, Japan, Chile and Australia.
Prior to Liberty, Mr. Burke spent two years with Level 3 in their lead contract negations position and six years with Qwest Communications in a variety of positions such as the Vice President -Strategic Technology, V.P.-Wireless Technology and V.P. - Engineering & Operations. Mr. Burke also spent two years at Sprint/Nextel Communications leading their nationwide network signaling and interconnect development and build-out.
Prior to Sprint/Nextel, Mr. Burke spent fourteen years at Verizon in both the fixed and wireless business. At Verizon Wireless, Mr. Burke was directly involved in the engineering development, launch and ongoing network operations of their wireless PCS and cellular business in the New York, Massachusetts and Virginia networks. He also served as an account executive selling business services to banks and financial institutions in Manhattan. Mr. Burke started his career as a central office and outside plant engineer at New York Telephone.
Mr. Burke holds a B.S. Degree in Mathematics from Siena College and an MBA from the University of New York at Albany and has published numerous NCTA, SCTE and CableLabs technical articles and white papers.
